For fifteen years, Murray has been rated as a leading university. U.S.News rated Murray as one of the nation's top public universities, saying, "A degree from a distinguished college helps graduates get good jobs and gain entrance to the world's top graduate programs."Murray was one of only six public universities in the nation to be selected by Kaplan, Inc. as a "Hidden Treasure." The honor was based on the results of a Market Measurement, Inc., national survey of high school guidance counselors.Kiplinger's Personal Finance magazine has twice ranked Murray as one of America's top public universities. When 500 public colleges around the nation were studied, Kiplinger's rated MSU 54th (in-state value) and 52nd (out-of-state value). Judges reviewed quality of academics, admission rates, freshmen retention, average class size, graduation rates and average college debt after graduation.
