faq's Who can enter an NDP tournament? Any team can play in an NDP tournament. In the past, our tournaments have been strictly competitive in nature featuring All-Star, tryout or traveling club type teams. New for 2009, we are adding a recreational level to our youth divisions (U15, U13 & U11) for the Dick's Sporting Goods Colorado Cup! My team is playing in the Dick's Sporting Goods Colorado Cup and I'm not sure if my team is recreational or competitive. How do I decide? The best rule of thumb in determining which level of play your team should compete in is to remember that recreational teams are not formed through a tryout or selection process and typically do not travel to play in competitive tournaments. Recreational teams typically play in the spring/summer seasons before the summer tournament season begins. When you register your team via this website, you will only be asked to identify the age level of your team, not skill level. Once we receive confirmation of your registration we will call you to determine the skill level of your team. What age groups can participate? Each tournament's page on this website lists the individual age divisions offered. In general, they are high school elite and rising stars and youth (U15, U13 & U11). The Dick's Sporting Goods Tournament of Champions in January 2011 will have Elite, Rising Stars, U13 & U15 divisions. What are the rules on age eligibility? For the High School divisions, all players on the roster must still be in high school. No players can have graduated before the event date (**see note about post-graduate players below). In the high school elite division, the oldest players allowed to be on the roster are players that are currently in their senior year of high school or who will be entering their senior year in the next school term. Underclassmen of any designation are allowed in the Elite division. In the high school rising stars division, team rosters must be made up entirely of players that are, at most, preparing to enter their junior high school year or that are current juniors. No current seniors or seniors-to-be are allowed in the rising stars division! In the youth divisions (U15, U13, U11), we follow the same age cutoff utilized by US Lacrosse. Players must not be the same age of the division label until on or after January 1st of the tournament year. For instance, a U15 player on a roster in the 2010 season must not have turned 15 before January 1, 2010. Please note that even though we follow the age guidelines set forth by US Lacrosse, we are not a US Lacrosse sanctioned event. You do not need to submit your player's US Lacrosse membership numbers to us for any reason. **Please note that these eligibility rules are applicable only to NDP operated events (DSG Colorado Cup, DSG Midwest Cup, DSG Atlantic Cup, DSG Tournament of Champions). All other partner events operate under their own rules. Any questions about partner events should be addressed to the appropriate event administration.
