Description
Charter school founders come from many different backgrounds. But all successful schools are based on sound educational ideas, a strong commitment to public education, and a powerful mix of perseverance, organization, and resourcefulness. We encourage committed individuals and organizations to develop their innovative ideas and commitment to public education into effective charter schools that serve New Jersey’s children. Legal Requirements The New Jersey Charter School Program Act sets out the process and requirements to establish a charter school. Application A copy of the NJ Department of Education s charter school application, including NJ s charter school law and regulations, is available at: http://www.nj.gov/njded/chartsch/app/ . Please note: We encourage you to contact the Charter School Office at the NJ Department of Education (609.292.5850) to ensure that you are working with the most recent copy of the charter school application. The Charter School Office also provides guidance on the material content of the application. Applications are due March 31 of each year. Announcements on which applications were apprpoved will be made on or about the September 30.
