Description
OUR HISTORY Founded in 1978, CABLE started as an outgrowth of the YWCA. Mary Schaffner is considered the founding mother of CABLE and Barbara Richards was our first president. It is now Tennessee’s largest and most established network of diverse professionals committed to connecting women and opportunity.
Felicia Anchor has served as a community advocate and volunteer for over 40 years. She is the immediate past Chair of the Tennessee Holocaust Commission, appointed by 3 Governors to the position. In 2003 she created and led a one-half million dollar campaign to build a Holocaust Memorial in Nashville. The Memorial was dedicated in 2006.
Nashville CABLE is Tennessee’s largest and most established network of professionals with more than 600 members and a 35-year history of helping women reach their full potential. The organization’s mission of “Connecting Women and Opportunity” has shaped its networking programs and advocacy initiatives, and created a forward-thinking infrastructure for expansion nationally. CABLE’s hallmark initiative, Women on Corporate Boards, is dedicated to increasing numbers of women on Tennessee corporate boards and in the executive suite, and to helping lead that movement nationally. CABLE is a member of the InterOrganization Network, an alliance of 17 women’s organizations with a common mission across the U.S. This provides a national context for benchmarking research and enhances our resources to effect positive change in Tennessee. For more information about CABLE and Women on Corporate Boards, please visit www.nashvillecable.org.
Founded in 1982, the award is an honor for those nominees who excel in their professions, give back to their communities and help raise up other leaders, especially women.
