Office Appointment Can Chiropractic help you? - Dr. Christopher May In my experience, people who have the strongest opinions concerning chiropractic care are the ones who have never tried it! How can you know until you give it a try? Simply stated, chiropractic care restores lost motion to the spinal vertebral joints. We don't always know the reasons for the loss of motion but these can include muscle tension or muscle spasm, poor posture, sprains or strains, and past injuries that have produced scar tissue in the vicinity of the joint with the lost motion. Despite not always knowing the reasons for the loss of motion, you can definitely feel the symptoms. The symptoms of lost spinal motion can present as back or neck pain, stiffness, headaches, or loss of normal range of motion. At times, symptoms may include numbness, tingling, or soreness down the legs or arms which usually indicates abnormal pressure on a spinal nerve where it exits the spine. In some cases, chiropractic care may be able to help the numbness, tingling, or soreness symptoms depending on the cause of the problem. I never tell any patient that chiropractic care will help their symptoms for sure, but it's always worth a try especially considering the mainstream medicine alternatives which include pain medication to simply hide the real problem, joint injections, and surgery.
