I have learned to say Usui Reiki or Mikao Usui’s method rather than simply Reiki because there are many practices today that have little to nothing to do with the spiritual practice Mikao Usui founded in 1922.

The spiritual practice that Mikao Usui founded in 1922 is so profound that is does not need anything for other practices added into it. Usui Reiki is vibrations of universal energy, the source which cannot be made better.

While I often say just the word “Reiki”, I know “Reiki” is a Japanese noun that has many meanings. Alone it does not represent the spiritual practice that Mikao Usui founded in the early 1920s.

No one can force Usui Reiki on anyone, or force anyone’s pathway to open to universal energy. The universe allow free-will and when Reiki refers to the spiritual practice Mikao Usui founded in 1922 it is a piece of universal energy.

I was first introduced to a Western style of Usui Reiki in the 1980s, began formal studies of Western styles of Usui Reiki Ryoho in the 1990s, and moved on to Japanese styles of Usui Reiki Ryoho that come directly from Japan. Nevertheless, with daily practice my journey in the spiritual practice Mikao Usui founded in 1922 will never end.
