In 1938, the employees of Ingalls Shipyard began the task of building great ships for the defense of our nation. Some of these individuals who had seen a strong, vibrant workplace develop from a “mud lump” on the banks of the Pascagoula River recognized that the employees of the shipyard needed access to financial services that were equally available to all. On June 24, 1939, seven shipyard workers prepared the Articles of Association and Incorporation for Mutual Benefit Credit Union.
