origins Navigator co-founders Jon Feld and Todd Price met while Jon was working as a business analyst in the marketing department at Frito-Lay and Todd was working for Information Resources (IRI), a supplier of consumer goods scanner data and analytical software to Frito-Lay. At the time, Frito-Lay was unable to analyze its in-store promotions adequately. Jon and Todd worked with Frito-Lay's sales and internal IT departments, combining a business perspective with the technical capabilities to create a solution. Jon realized that by exploiting technology and leveraging the data and tools that Todd and IRI could provide, Frito-Lay could efficiently track the effectiveness of various selling approaches and promotional programs.Industry and technology firm contacts confirmed their belief that there was significant opportunity in helping companies optimize performance by leveraging their data with analysis. Having “walked a mile in the shoes” of the business analysts/strategists they were looking to serve, Jon and Todd also recognized that they could differentiate themselves from others offering similar services by bridging the gap in many companies between the business functions and IT departments. In 1992, they founded Navigator specifically to address this opportunity.
