Michael D. Shovlain brings more than thirty years of administrative leadership in behavioral health and human services. In 1991 Mike founded New Life Outpatient Center in Davenport, Iowa which was the state’s first for-profit outpatient center. Mike has been a visionary and innovative leader in the field of human services. He is profit-driven, results oriented, and a passionate behavioral healthcare executive with extensive experience in all aspects of startups, turnarounds, expansions, and growth situations. Mike developed and implemented a Premier Residential Addictions Treatment Center (The Abbey) for co-occurring disorders in Bettendorf, Iowa. Mike’s work has encompassed hospital based treatment centers, community nonprofit treatment centers, employee assistance programs (one of which became the nation’s first accredited EAP through EASNA), and for-profit national treatment contracting providers. Mike was also one of two investigators for the state of Arizona Behavioral Health Licensing Division. Mike received his post graduate degree at Governors State University and has a Masters Degree in Health Sciences with a focus on addictions studies. He is also licensed as a Registered Nurse and has practiced in acute trauma settings.
