Description
According to the National Automotive Radiator Service Association, the leading cause of roadside breakdowns is cooling system failure. This is because glycol-based antifreeze chemically breaks down over time to form glycolic acid that reduces the pH of coolant, and causes corrosion in the radiator, heater core, water pump, and coolant passages. This process is significantly accelerated in vehicles that are driven irregularly, or stored for extended periods of time.
