David Hannigan designs and manufactures high quality sidecars, fairings and motorcycle trailers. Our staff recently had the opportunity to test a BMW K1200LT / Hannigan Astro 2+2 sidecar rig and found both the handling and the build quality to be exceptionally good.

All of us but my wife were riding BMWs. My wife was on her Voyager XII. The trip took us through Massachusetts, Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine. The roads Sean took us on were beautiful and challenging. We hit most of the Gaps and Notches in Vermont and New Hampshire including the Appalachian Gap the Holy Grail of twisties in Vermont. Smugglers Notch also proved to be quite challenging. We also rode to the top of Mount Washington in NH (the highest point in the northeast) no guard rails and part of the road was dirt.

This article was written in late 1997 by a young Greg McQuide right at the start of a brilliant career in which he became a key moto-journalist for Motorcyclist . In order to impress The Robb Report with an exciting article (his first feature for a national magazine) , Greg embellished a bit about the riding pace on tour. He wanted an exciting opening and so he started this story out almost as if our tour was filled with would-be roadracers.

For day six of the five-night tour we provide optional maps and route sheets for a self-guided ride back to West Dover, VT. Some riders will be departing with us that day - from Glen, NH - on an extended Gaspe Maritime Tour.
