It is an organization that performs concerts and participates in school activities such as pep rallies, and graduation ceremonies. It also prepares the students for high school. Many high school bands require a student to have previous experience. Northeastern Music programs will prepare your students with the proper music fundamentals so when they enter high school they will make an important contribution to the high school band. An alternative to sports. Not all students are capable of participating in school sports, but any student with the desire to play an instrument may play in the school band. This gives each student a chance to be part of an organization that contributes to school pride while making new friends in an organized school activity. No cost to the school. There is absolutely no cost to the school for a band program. Parents pay tuition for lessons directly to the band program. All music and stands are provided by the program. Students needing instruments will be offered inexpensive rentals through local music stores. The school needs only to provide a place for lessons and band rehearsals. How the band program works. The students are placed, by instrument and ability, into groups of 2-8 pupils. Weekly lessons are conducted during the day on a rotating basis so that a student will not miss the same class more than once during a period of several months. (Example: if a student has a 9:00am lesson, it will be at 9:30 the following week, etc.) Eligibility and progress reports. All students in grades four and above may participate in the NMP program at their school. Students who wish to participate in the program must maintain a passing grade in all other school subjects in order to continue their participation. The NMP program is also a graded program, so parents will be kept abreast of their child's progress. Music report cards are given out at the same time that school report cards are issued. Music: A vital facet of a complete education. Whether you are looking to start or enhance a musical program in your school, with Northeastern Music Programs, Incorporated you can improve the overall quality of learning experience for your students, while providing opportunities for specific skill development. For example, research shows that children exposed to music tend to do better on standardized tests. And a Gallup survey revealed that 90% of respondents agreed that music should be part of a well-rounded education, 89% believe that music helps a child's development, and 97% agree that playing a musical instrument can help young people channel their energy in a creative way. "Hidden" values of music education. A variety of research has shown the benefits of music education above and beyond the obvious values of the artistic experience. In a University of California study, music lessons were shown to improve a child's performance in school. The results revealed that music students had a 30% increase in spatial-temporal skills above the other groups.
