Description

DC-6 Our fleet currently consists of three types of aircraft in "All Cargo" configuration to serve your needs. Our DC-6 aircraft are the workhorse of the fleet carrying payloads of up to 28,000 pounds of cargo and require a minimum 3,500 foot runway to carry the maximum cargo payload. This aircraft was designed and proven for the conditions that currently exist in much of rural Alaska; remote, unmanned, gravel strips sprinkled throughout the backcountry. Extraordinarily specialized aircraft that remains unmatched for rugged durability and workmanship. All Northern Air Cargo aircraft are configured with large cargo doors and can accommodate oversize freight. All of our aircraft can land on paved, gravel, and ice strips in support of remote project and construction sites. 727 NAC's Boeing 727-100F jet aircraft carry up to 38,000 pounds. Although this aircraft is rarely used in passenger transport today, cargo applications are endless. Using our 727's to supplement our DC-6 fleet, we are able to serve the farthest outlying hub stations with state maintained, paved, runways over 5000 ft. The large cargo door allows us to carry oversize freight and palletized "loose loaded" freight on our scheduled service, in addition to many charter applications throughout Alaska, the Pacific Northwest, Russia, and the rest of the Pacific Rim. ATR 42 The ATR-42 aircraft is the newest addition to our fleet. This aircraft has proven it's worth in our fleet through the use of operational systems that guarantee fast loading, efficient fuel burn, and the fastest turnaround times in our system. This aircraft uses specialized operational equipment that allows each load to maximize all available space in the aircraft. NAC has invested in facility upgrades over the last few years that will allow a continued relationship with this aircraft type for years to come. Featuring a "retro-fitted" oversize cargo door, this aircraft has allowed us to increase our frequency, reliability, and efficiency in each of our proving routes. An absolute infant when compared to the rest of our fleet, it employs modern avionics and design elements that make good use of the pioneering elements of the DC-6 and 727's.
