In the early 1960s, an LDO LCDR marketed both a YN and PN study guide, but they were poorly printed and seldom updated. Our PNCS founder worked with a group of civilians to recruit authors and further develop and market the NORTHSTAR study guides using top quality printing techniques and also marketing the material on audio cassettes (we started with 8-track and reel-to-reel technology). Now many of our study guides are also available on computer based CD-ROMs. We continue to use state-of-the-art technology for our manuscripts.

We have never forgotten what it feels like to be well prepared to take the Navy-wide exam, or the constraints on military pay. NORTHSTAR does not have customers, we have shipmates! It is with this philosophy that we continue to offer the HIGHEST QUALITY, MOST CURRENT study guides. In fact, we guarantee you will pass your next advancement exam. And we continue to absorb rating mergers without increasing our prices. We have NOT had a price increase in over five years.

Since our birth in 1978, much of the printing and recording media technology have changed. And, we have always changed with it.
