Description

Incorporated in 1981 as Northwest Toxicology Consultants, the company initially operated as a clinical toxicology reference laboratory. The name was amended to Northwest Toxicology, Incorporated (NWT) in 1985 when the laboratory entered the workplace drug testing market. In 1992, NWT entered the contract research organization (CRO) market and began offering advanced mass spectrometry GLP-compliant bioanalytical services to the pharmaceutical industry. This successful diversification led to the formation of Northwest Bioanalytical (NWB) as an operating division of NWT in 1995. The parent company was renamed NWT Incorporated in 1996, following its successful expansion in the CRO market. In 1998, NWT accelerated its growth in the CRO market through the acquisition of Pharmaknowledge, Incorporated, a bioanalytical consulting firm located in Princeton, NJ, resulting in the creation of Northwest Analytical Consulting Laboratories (NACL). NACL significantly increased its bioanalytical capabilities in 2001 through a relocation and facility expansion in West Trenton, NJ. In 2002, NWB and NACL were renamed Tandem Labs. For over ten years, Tandem Labs’ dedicated and experienced staff has supported over 120 pharmaceutical, biopharmaceutical, and biotechnical clients in the United States and internationally, securing Tandem Labs’ position as a recognized leader in the global bioanalytical services market. In the first quarter of 2004, NWT sold its drug-of-abuse testing business unit, Northwest Toxicology, to LabOne, Incorporated This strategic divestiture allowed management to concentrate its undivided attention on the future of Tandem Labs. On September 13, 2006, Tandem Labs acquired PharmaKD, a Boston, Massachusetts-based division of Linden Technologies providing mass spectrometry-based pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics (PK/PD) for drug metabolite and biomarker profiling. Tandem Labs now operated three facilities within the United States: Tandem Labs-Utah, Tandem Labs-New Jersey, and the new Tandem Labs-New England, formerly known as PharmaKD.
