Sand? Gravel? Crushed Stone? Sand, gravel and crushed stone, collectively known as construction aggregates, are the building blocks of the construction industry as they are the principle ingredients in ready-mixed concrete, asphalt, concrete block, and mortar. According to the US Geological Survey, 117,000 people were employed in the US in 2000 producing 1.17 billion tons of sand and gravel and 1.59 billion tons of crushed stone. Since its inception over one hundred years ago, Nugent Sand Company has grown to become one the largest sand and gravel producers in the Ohio River Valley, selling our products from Louisville to Pittsburgh.
