As a result, our business strategy is closely aligned with, and fully supports, our belief in and commitment to generating consistent excess returns for our clients.

Since our founding, Numeric has maintained a collaborative environment that leverages the contributions of independent thinkers. We believe a team approach to portfolio management, research, and the business aspects of our operations benefits the long-term consistency of our investment process and, importantly, our client relationships. Two key groups are organized to lead the firm: the Management and Investment Committees. The Management Committee consists of our most senior professionals who deliberate key decisions related to the firm's investment and business functions.

Numeric's investment strategies are based on our long-standing philosophy that in the aggregate, markets are efficient and real economic performance drives returns. However, over certain time periods, markets are inefficient - stock prices fluctuate more than the underlying information set, all new significant information is not perfectly priced, and companies can manipulate reported earnings to please the market. Our stock selection models were designed to take advantage of these inefficiencies.

We believe our approach to investing is reflected in our culture: It is disciplined and analytical, yet reflective and collegial. Our investment team consists of a mix of seasoned professionals, with backgrounds at some of the largest and most well-regarded investment firms in the business, complemented by portfolio managers and researchers who joined out of school and gained their experience with us. Our research and portfolio management teams are fully integrated. We believe the combination of these skill sets will achieve superior investment results for our clients.
