Management Team The Octavus management team has extensive experience in financial industry distribution, management, sales and marketing. Our approach to working with broker/dealers, investment advisors, and alternative investment managers is based on partnership, collaboration and mutual success. Kevin Kinzie is the CEO and founder of Octavus Group, LLC. With over 25 years of financial industry experience, Kevin has repeatedly demonstrated his ability to capitalize on significant trends, introduce concepts to the marketplace and grow companies to fulfill a market need. Kevin previously founded LendSource, Incorporated, a company created to partner with banks to provide alternatives for declined loans. LendSource grew to a client base of over 23 banks, closing in excess of $10 million per month in formerly declined loans for client banks. Prior to founding LendSource, Kevin served as President and CEO of Richard Leahy Corporation, a wholly owned subsidiary of Lincoln Financial Corporation, guiding the Company into the bank marketplace to offer financial service products to bank customers. During Kevin’s leadership, sales expanded from $6 million in 1988 to over $700 million in 1995, and employees from 2 to nearly 450. Kevin holds a B.S. in business and marketing from the University of Colorado. He holds the Series 6, 7, 24, 31, and 63 licenses and the CLU designation. Jon C. Essen joins Octavus Group as its SVP and COO after recently working as EVP and CFO of a mezzanine finance company based in St. Paul, MN. During his nearly six years in real estate finance, the firm's assets grew from $2 million to $100 million. Prior to that, Jon worked at Jundt Associates from 1998 to 2002 as its CFO, Director of Operations and Director of Compliance. Jundt Associates was an investment management firm, based in Minneapolis, MN, that offered its services through mutual funds, hedge funds and private accounts. Jon worked as a Senior Financial Analyst at Norwest Investment Services from 1997 to 1998. Jon worked at Voyageur Funds, an asset management company based in Minneapolis, MN, from 1994 to 1997, serving as its Reporting and Control Supervisor. Jon graduated from Mankato State University with a BS in Business Administration. He is a CPA (inactive) and holds the Series 7, 24, 28, and 63 licenses.
