The Structures Research Team, led by Dr. Sreeramesh Kalluri, has a wide variety of skills in mechanics and durability assessment of structural materials, structural optimization, and adaptive seals technology/smart materials. Such a diverse expertise enables the team to provide high-value design solutions to complex structural problems. The team members possess several years of experience in assessing the durability of high temperature structural materials (superalloys, intermetallics, composite materials, and coatings) used in aeronautical and space propulsion systems.

History Ohio Aerospace Institute (OAI) was founded in 1989. Our mission is to enhance our partners’ aerospace competitiveness through research and technology development, workforce preparedness, and engagement with global networks for innovation and advocacy. Today, OAI has approximately 80 employees and over $16M in annual revenue.

Working with our industry partners, OAI supports the diverse professional development needs of our customers. We offer short courses designed to meet specific needs for training in aerospace technology.

OAI's goal in Education and Training is to sustain and build a strong aerospace workforce in Ohio, now and for the future. OAI uses its network of universities , industries , and government laboratories to provide education and training programs designed to develop and sustain critical skills within our customer organizations.

Ann O. Heyward serves as Executive Vice President at the Ohio Aerospace Institute, leading all of OAI’s programs and service lines in research and technology development; industry, university, and government partnerships; and workforce development and education. Her division employs more than 55 individuals earning more than $12M in revenue through contracts, cooperative agreements, membership, collaborative consortia, and other vehicles.
