Robert Olsen – President Mr. Olsen is a highly motivated, solution-oriented Construction Manager with a strong thirty-year track record in resource and personnel management. He has performed full construction management and general contracting services for various large capital improvement projects throughout the Northeast. His management successes include general construction and mission critical applications. He has consistently achieved ambitious goals through a proven ability to select, train and motivate management teams Background Mr. Olsen began his career at the Travelers Insurance Company as a State of Connecticut licensed electrical contractor in 1978, and obtained positions of greater responsibility and accountability over a twenty-five year period. He started as an electrical foreman supervising a twenty-eight person electrical staff, and eventually became the Superintendent of Facilities, overseeing a staff of ninety-two with the responsibility for an annual operating budget of $62 million. He was later promoted to Facilities Manager, and with a growing real-estate portfolio, was selected to head the downsizing operations and reduce staff by a third. At this time, Trammel Crow Company was brought in as an outside property manager, and Mr. Olsen was hired as the Director of the Travelers Account. Here he oversaw twenty-eight Travelers’ home and field office critical sites, and also managed over 1.1 million square feet of owned/leased space. With all this experience and expertise, Mr. Olsen felt that it was time to start his own company, Olsen Construction Services, LLC (OCS). Over the last several years, OCS has grown into a respected construction management firm, working with local universities, churches, public utilities, non-profit organizations, and private companies, providing quality construction management and consultation as well as major corporate interior renovation and exterior restoration. Approach Mr. Olsen and his project management team have worked as both construction managers and project consultants throughout the NorthEast. With involvement in most projects starting in the design phase, they have shown their value by their knowledge of the specific equipment and systems required in all types of projects, along with their well executed renovations to Class A office space, retail and industrial space. As a Project Management firm, Olsen Construction Services has been able to generate client cost savings by assisting in design of these facilities, with an eye toward value engineering.
