OAH, PC Welcomes Dr. Cliff Rios to Practice Dr. Clifford Rios is a Connecticut native. He grew up in South Windsor and attended the University of Connecticut where he studied physiology and neurobiology and graduated as class valedictorian. He obtained his medical degree from the University of Connecticut School of Medicine. As a resident in orthopaedic surgery at the University of Connecticut, Dr. Rios was awarded the Cavazos Residency Fellowship Award, awarded to the person believed to most closely exemplify an outstanding, well-rounded resident, mentor and role model. Dr. Rios obtained sub-specialty training in orthopaedic sports medicine at the UHZ Sports Medicine Institute in Coral Gables, Florida. Here he worked as assistant team physician for the Florida Panthers professional ice hockey team and for all the student athletes at Florida International University. He specializes in arthroscopic and reconstructive surgery and his particular areas of interest are knee ligament injuries and shoulder injuries. He has authored multiple journal articles and book chapters, and his research has been presented at national orthopaedic surgery conferences. He is a member of the Arthroscopy Association of North America and the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine. Dr. Rios is married and lives in West Hartford.
