Since that time, PCI FlorTech, Inc. has become one of the premier commercial flooring contractors in the Midwest. Exploration of innovative new surfaces such as the 20,000 square feet of AlumaFloor installed at the McCormick Tribune Campus of The Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT), FreeAxez metal carpet tile (revolutionary low profile access flooring) and a company wide initiative to increase awareness and application of carpet reclamation were a natural progression for this forward thinking company.

Payne Carpets, Inc. was incorporated in 1982 by Frank Payne, who was its only employee. The company was originally employed by Contract Distributor’s Corporation, a national flooring and installation broker from New York, to run its Chicago Office.
