Priority Data was founded in 1979 by Marcie Flynn and Paul Pettinger in Omaha, Nebraska and started with providing accounting services to insurance agencies. By 1982, Priority Data was building rating software for insurance agencies and carriers as well as providing data entry services of all kinds. In 1998, current owners Dave Mellor and Dewayne Docken were each hired at Priority Data and began offering online rating software. By 2000, they were fully integrating Choicepoint data in real time. From 2004-2009, Priority Data went through some ownership changes.
