Parkside Chapel was founded in 1997 by J. L. Marcum and several business associates. Mr. Marcum was an active community and business leader and a funeral director for over fifty years.

My family extends condolenses to yours at your loss of a wonderful man, and pray God's grace will be with you all. I enjoyed working with Ed, and will miss working with him.

Mr. Roberts was raised in Friona, Texas and graduated from Friona High School in 1972. After high school, Mr. Roberts worked at a local funeral home. Finding that funeral service seemed to be a calling in his life, Mr. Roberts attended the Dallas Institute of Mortuary Science, graduating in 1974. After receiving his license in 1976, Mr. Roberts worked in several funeral homes in the area including Childress, Pampa, and Lubbock before coming to Hereford. In 1996, while working for a casket supply company, Mr. Roberts received the "Supplier of the Year" Award from the West Texas Funeral Directors Association. Mr. Roberts loves working with families to help them create meaningful farewell services that help loved ones find healing and closure. He is an active member of the local Lion's Club and is a proud member of the Panhandle Funeral Directors Association and the Texas Funeral Directors Association.
