Patchwork Penguin will be open on Monday, September 6th for Labor Day. Our hours on Labor Day are 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. We have a whole slew of classes scheduled in September, October and November. We even have some special workshops by Shelley Swanland and Phyllis Binkely. Shelley will be teaching her method on Cathedral Windows and Phyllis is teaching Thread Painting 101. More information on the classes is available on our website, look in the November calendar. There are many quilt and bag classes scheduled as well. Sign up quick to reserve your spot in the class. We have the perfect class for the kids to add to their curriculum, Kids Sewing 101. During the 6 sessions Lucy Scinta will show the students basic sewing machine operation and stitches while making some great projects. Classes begin end of September, agen 9 and up. Have you ever wondered what to do with those orphaned socks the dryer leaves you? Join Mary Ellen in making adorable stray sock creatures that children and adults will be sure to love. Other classes offered by Mary Ellen are Quilts on the Double, Positively Pineapple, Free Motion quilting and many more. Little Patches is the first of many bags that Nancy Helpinstill will be teaching. Along with bags Nancy is teaching Tossed 9 Patch and Fractured Crystals. Sharon Camping will be teaching her pattern Stars and Strips as well as the Endangered Species quilts by Rob Appell and Garend Twist from In The Begginning. Robin McKnight is teaching her popular Rustic Rag Rugs, we now have day and evening sessions. Every Monday and Wednesday we host Open Sew. We open up our classroom for you to come in and work on your personal projects, and they do not have to be quilting. Just bring your project and supplies. We are a drop off location for pillowcases in the Million Pillowcase Challenge as well as Project Linus. Project Linus meets the 4th Sunday of the month 9am-4pm. The next meeting date for Project Linus is Sunday, Sept. 26th. We have kits for sale for pillowcases as well as quilts. All Pillowcases turned in to us will stay local.
