Excise tax on medical device manufacturers (2013): Tax equal to 2.3% of the sale price is imposed on the sale of any taxable medical device by the manufacturer, producer, or importer of the device.

It is the employer’s responsibility to provide a notice to each employee, regardless of plan-enrollment status or part-time or full-time status. Employers are not required to provide a separate notice to dependents or other individuals who are or may become eligible for coverage under the plan. However, employers who offer different health plans to different groups of employees may need to prepare multiple notices. The notice should also be provided after October 1 to all new employees within 14 days of hiring.
