The Market The Dow Jones Industrial Average has gained 8.3% since August 26th. The S&P 500 and NASDAQ are up 9.5% and 8.8% respectively; puncturing the myth that September is always a difficult month for the market. Once again, conventional wisdom bites the dust! Several factors played a part in this impressive gain. Corporate earnings have been improving for more than a year, even though unemployment remains near 10%. The recession ended in mid 2009 for large corporations, but continues for individuals and small businesses.
