Description

In 1963…Sid Childers applied for and received the first wireless utility certificate from the Alaska Public Utilities Commission. For the next 35 years Sid's radio system became an integral part of the communications fabric in Alaska. Radio Fairbanks was literally a lifesaver for victims of the 1967 Fairbanks floods, to forest fire fighters, and climbers on Mt. McKinley.
