John Spurling's business career began in Southern and Eastern Africa as an advertising executive where he founded and grew a successful marketing company in Kenya which he sold to a global conglomerate in 1980. Following that, Mr. Spurling entered the insurance business by purchasing a small insurance agency that he successfully transformed into a company specializing in comprehensive and innovative pet insurance solutions. Mr. Spurling has now provided more than a generation of pet owners on both sides of the Atlantic with reliable insurance products designed to meet the healthcare needs of their pets.

PetPartners sold its first pet healthcare policy in the U.S. in 2003, but our history goes back to the 1980's. That's when John Spurling purchased and developed pet healthcare insurance, exclusively for the Kennel Club of Great Britain, into one of the leading pet insurance innovators. Later, he launched PetPartners in the United Kingdom and then in the United States. Now, with over 25 years of experience, we have a proven track record in pet insurance for dogs and cats.

Since 2003, PetPartners has been the exclusive provider of pet health insurance protection to registrants of the American Kennel Club through the AKC Pet Healthcare Plans. In 2004, we were selected by the Cat Fanciers' Association, the largest registry of purebred cats, to provide our insurance to CFA registrants. In 2009, PetPartners began to offer its new PetPartners-branded products both to individuals and groups (such as associations, companies and credit unions).
