The W. J. Phillips Inc. was established in 1917, when William J. Phillips Sr. left the Phillips family farm in Davison, Michigan, to become the second agent appointed by Auto-Owners Insurance Company. William Phillips built a successful Independent Agency and enjoyed great success and respect in the Flint area.
