Pitts & Lake, P.C., is a full-service intellectual property (IP) law firm located in Knoxville, TN. The firm was recently listed in the annual Super Lawyers Business Edition for being the top small-sized intellectual property law firm in the state of Tennessee. We focus our practice on patents, trademarks, copyrights, trade secrets, portfolio management, litigation, and other intellectual property matters.
Pitts & Lake has significant experience in all areas of practice before the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office (USPTO) and international patent offices around the world. We are involved at the initial stages of evaluating technology for patentability, drafting and prosecuting patent applications, and analyzing patents for enforcement opportunities.
Bob Pitts is a patent attorney and a co-founder of the firm. His practice focuses on dispute resolution of patent and trademark matters. He has been trial counsel for intellectual property litigation matters that have resulted in two 8-figure and several 7-figure awards. Bob is also active in counseling companies and individuals in connection with patent and trademark portfolios, and patent and trademark prosecution.

Mr. Lake received a Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Cleveland State University and a Bachelors degree in Physics, with an emphasis in RF communications, computer networks, electric circuits, medical physics, and semiconductor design. Mr. Lake graduated from the University of Akron School of Law in 1999 and earned a MBA degree from John Carroll University, before entering private law practice. Prior to law school, Mr.
