Description

Planar Systems Inc. (NASDAQ: PLNR) is a global leader in digital display technology providing premier solutions ranging from desktop monitors to video walls to interactive visual experiences. Whether displaying information or inspiration, industry leaders rely on Planar’s differentiated digital display technology for a range of applications. Retailers, educational institutions, government agencies, businesses, utilities and energy firms, and home theater enthusiasts all depend on Planar to provide superior performance when image experience is of the highest importance.

Although Planar works hard to design our products to be environmentally friendly, many still contain materials which need to be disposed in a careful manner. Some flat panel products still contain cold cathode fluorescent lamps (CCFLs), which contain very small amounts of mercury to provide energy-efficient illumination. The mercury-containing lamp in Planar's projectors is also used for illumination and energy efficiency.

Planar has been manufacturing displays for critical care medical equipment for over 30 years, including fetal heart monitors, EKG machines, defibrillators and medical monitors. Planar’s non-clinical products are designed and assembled with the highest quality and reliability in mind.

When you want a sleeker way of looking at things, Planar flat-panel LCD desktop monitors will delight your eyes. With nearly 30 years of experience in development of award-winning displays, Planar desktop monitors feature the fastest graphics and most vibrant colors - all in a slim profile that is nothing less than bevel-edge beautiful.

Planar was founded in 1983 by Jim Hurd, Chris King, and John Laney, who all had the courage and leadership to break away from Tektronix. They also brought the ability to innovate superior display technology solutions that others could not. That is why the US Army came to them in order to build a “Digital Messaging Device” from the developing Electroluminescent (EL) display technology that required unprecedented standards.
