Description
In more than 12 years since its inception, Plug has quickly become an internationally recognized showroom specialized in art and the science of illumination. Lori Bush, IALD, IESNA and Pia DeLeon-Neumayr founded Plug in 1998 to provide the Los Angeles public and design community with the most interesting and innovative lighting products from around the world. Plug has earned its reputation by providing production by the most creative artists and companies using cutting edge materials and technologies available today. The partners travel the globe to find artists who share their vision and their passion for creative, modern lighting design. The showroom features daring and distinctive works from world renowned artists who specialize in this medium, and in several instances Plug is the outlet in the United States to carry these artists' work. Since day one, reaction to the showroom has been overwhelmingly positive. Interior Designers and Architects immediately responded to the collection that Lori and Pia had assembled. Clients quickly began to order works by artists whose names had never been heard in Los Angeles. Many of these artists have gone on to achieve wide recognition and awards for their distinctive and dramatic work. One of the artists carried by Plug is Los Angeles’ own Alison Berger, an extraordinary talent who was awarded the "Elle Deco" lighting designer of the year in 2007, from Elle Decor magazine. She has been featured in New York’s Museum of Art, and the Corning Museum of Glass. Also, Plug carries works by London artists' Bowles and Linares, featured in the Victoria and Albert Museum in London. Germany based designer Florian Schulz is one of their favorites connecting him to the Bauhaus design movement , founded by Walter Gropius in 1919. While very well known in their native lands, these designers were all but unknown in this country prior to their appearance in Plug.
