PneumRx is a growing medical device company focused on developing minimally-invasive solutions for unmet medical needs in pulmonary medicine.

Nicola Downes joined PneumRx in 2006, and is the Chief Financial Officer. Prior to PneumRx, Ms. Downes served as CFO for ArkaSoft, a Silicon Valley software firm. She has held senior accounting and leadership positions for Hansa Chemie AG, the Royal Navy UK, a Lloyds of London syndicate, and as auditor with Accenture and Price Waterhouse Coopers. Ms. Downes has worldwide experience in managing all aspects of Accounting and Finance and is a Chartered Certified Accountant.

Medical device companies, such as PneumRx, are attempting to offer solutions to the vexing problem of emphysema management, traditionally the domain of pharmacologic treatments and, to a much lesser extent, highly invasive surgery. PneumRx is dedicated to bringing innovation and improvements to the treatment of a highly prevalent and debilitating lung disease for which current medical treatment is widely regarded as insufficient and, as the disease progresses, ineffective. The LVR Coil technology is poised to redefine the standard of care for treating a disease that afflicts millions of people.

Michael Lopez brings more than 25 years of experience running the key operations of both global and start-up organizations. Prior to joining PneumRx in 2013, he served as the COO at Oraya Therapeutics. His other medical device experiences include Vice President of Operations at Ventus Medical and Vice President of Manufacturing & Operations for InSound Medical. Preceding his executive roles, Mike held various leadership positions of increasing responsibility within Albany International Corporation, Polaroid Corporation, and the US Navy’s fast attack nuclear powered submarine community.
