Description

How Attorneys Can Help Our program serves New Orleans and other parishes that were devastated by Hurricane Katrina. Law firms and attorneys who want to provide pro bono help with disaster relief should call our Equal Justice Works AmeriCorps Legal Fellow Amanda Furst at amfurst@nolac.org or (504) 529-1000, ext. 240. Firms or attorneys who want to make financial donations should contact Director of Legal Services Mark Moreau at mamoreau@nolac.org or (504) 529-1000, ext. 237 or use our on-line donation system on our home page. The demand on us for services is overwhelming compared to our limited resources. We meet only about 10% of the need poor people have for civil legal representation in our area. This is typical of Legal Services programs. So we need your help! Here are some other ways you can help: -Join our local Pro Bono Project , (504) 581-4043, and accept pro bono cases. We are a major supporter of the Project and refer many clients to them. Volunteer attorneys are particularly needed for cases on the northshore. -Contract with us to handle cases for a reduced fee, paid for by SLLS. Call us for an application or for information: Southshore: (504) 529-1000, ext. 225; Northshore: (985) 345-2130. -If you are a pro bono attorney, join the Civil Law Practice Area of www.probono.net/la and contribute helpful pleadings on poverty law issues. -Let us know about important legal issues affecting the poor that come to your attention. -Co-counsel with our attorneys on a pro bono basis.
