Description

ARTIST'S STATEMENT Photography has always been a part of my life. Recently I have become passionate about nature-especially flowers and leaves, as well as shells and stones that I have encountered on beach walks. I have also been drawn to the pottery throwing and clay hand building medium in May 2003. I enjoy making miniature vases, sculptures, vessels; then photographing them, sometimes in their raw form, and learning to appreciate the nuances of this creative process. I have come to see flowers and leaves in a very unique way. Sometimes I see the humanness of them; instead of simply seeing flowers in a vase, I see groups of flowers conversing, walking, and sharing moments together, or I see solitude and character of a single rose. At other times I envision the faces of animals. All of this evokes deep feeling inside me, and this is what I want to capture in my photographs. In addition, I like to photograph the changes in a particular flower from day to day, from full bloom to wilting. I also like to press leaves and petals and arrange them in various ways, making cards and collages. I see the cycles of growth and dying in nature as a metaphor for my own life and fundamental to the beauty that surrounds us. Being in the moment and trusting impermanence is what I want others ot experience through my eyes. Lynda Perrone
