Dick L. Powers began caseload management in 1992 under the guidance and direction of The Indiana Sentencing Resource Center, a division of The Indiana Public Defender Council, Indianapolis, Indiana. Mr. Powers’ actions as a Sentencing Consultant are committed to analysis of available information affecting the actions that have brought persons to the attention of the judicial system. Independent, objective, and non-adversarial investigation and research are the standard methodologies utilized in acceptable and appropriate sentencing proposals. If possible, when considering effective sentencing options, the Sentencing Consultant will recommend applicable alternative community based sentencing options. Community based alternatives to incarceration are prioritized resources available for the Sentencing Consultant’s consideration. The successful and lawful inclusion of clients into the American society is the goal of the Sentencing Consultant. The professional training and experience of Dick Powers enable his appropriate evaluation of human actions, comprehension of their contributing factors, and recommendations for community based supervised services that are designed to promote positive and permanent behavioral changes.
