Since 1986, KPLA has played “Soft Rock.” KPLA currently broadcasts from the tallest broadcast tower in Boone County (over 1100 feet) with 100KW ERP, now the strongest signal in Boone County, with coverage within a 70 mile radius of the Columbia/Jefferson City area, including the Lake of the Ozarks area.KPLA's format is "Soft Rock." KPLA plays “The Best Mix of Soft Rock" from the last 20 years, including artists like Sheryl Crowe, Elton John, Mariah Carey, 3 Doors Down, John Mellencamp and Celine Dion.KPLA is committed to community involvement. KPLA supports Mid-Missouri youth through Storytime for Kids Program, Parks & Recreation Events and is a Partner In Education with the Columbia Catholic School 5th Grade class. KPLA helps area agencies by playing a major role in annual fund-raisers including the Central Missouri Food Bank, Easter Seals Wing Ding, and the KPLA for Kids Radiothon benefiting MU's Children's Hospital.
