Founder of Priddy Learning Academy, Incorporated, Mr. Priddy received his bachelor’s degree in economics at the University of Kansas, Lawrence in 1988. A summer of learning Japanese at the East Asian Summer Language Institute at Indiana University, Bloomington, led to his being awarded the Monbusho Fellowship by the Japanese Ministry of Education in 1989. His further studies took him to Tokyo’s Sophia University, in the Department of Comparative Cultures. He also received a U.S. Department of Education Foreign Language and Area Studies Fellowship and completed two years of graduate studies at the University of Kansas Graduate School’s Department of East Asian Languages and Culture. Priddy’s professional educational experiences include teaching English to Japanese businesspeople for New West, Incorporated, Tokyo, under the title of English Seminar Instructor/General Affairs Department. For two years, he served as an instructional specialist and materials developer for the Kumon Institute of Education, Limited, in Tokyo, Sydney, Australia, and Teaneck, New Jersey. The work he performed as a researcher and developer of supplemental reading and math programs and as trainer of Kumon staff and field instructors led him to establishing Priddy Learning Academy in 1996. Priddy Learning Academy’s Research Associate for Instruction, Dr. Liu received her B.S. in Metal Physics at Northeastern University, P.R. of China, and her Doctorate in Industrial Chemistry at Tokyo Metropolitan University, Japan. She is trilingual (English, Mandarin Chinese, and Japanese) and is a member of various professional associations. Her various professional experiences have included assignments as Research Scientist at the General Research Institute for Non-Ferrous Metals, Beijing, China, Section Chief at the Materials and Energy Research Institute in Tokyo, Japan, and six years as Visiting Research Scientist at the Department of Chemical Engineering, Kogakuin University, Japan. Dr. Liu is well-accustomed to supervising student work. Among Dr. Liu’s important contributions have been her authorship and co-authorship of more than sixty articles and presentations in various international journals and conferences related to her field. Naturally, Dr. Liu’s advanced scientific knowledge has presumed an expertise in mathematics. Coupled with her linguistic expertise, she has become the backbone of Priddy Learning Academy’s instructional materials development.
