Old Dominion Electric Cooperative (ODEC) has awarded the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contract to build its Wildcat Point Generation Facility, a state-of-the-art, combined-cycle natural gas power plant in Cecil County, Maryland, to White Oak Power Constructors. White Oak Power Constructors, named for the state tree of Maryland, is a joint venture between PCL Industrial Construction Co., of Houston, Texas and the engineering firm of Sargent & Lundy LLC, of Chicago, Illinois.

PJM Interconnection, founded in 1927, ensures the reliability of the high?voltage electric power system serving 61 million people in all or parts of Delaware, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Maryland, Michigan, New Jersey, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Virginia , West Virginia and the District of Columbia.

The $675 million Wildcat Point facility will boost the regional economy, improve reliability on the region’s electric grid, and help ODEC deliver cleaner, cost-effective power to its 1.2 million members in Maryland, Virginia, and Delaware. Wildcat Point is expected to generate 1,000 megawatts of electricity, enough to power roughly 390,000 homes annually. ODEC solicited bids from several major EPC contractors with suitable capability and experience in designing and building large combined-cycle power plants.
