Prince Institute was established in 1976 by Sara Prince, a teacher and former realtime reporter for the United States Air Force. We graduated our first realtime reporter in May of 1978. In December of 1982, the National Court Reporters Association (NCRA) awarded the school its first Certificate of Approval. In December of 1984, Prince Institute was awarded accreditation by the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools (ACICS), and in June of 2003 the Council named Prince Institute an “honor roll institution.” This prestigious award is given to schools that demonstrate exemplary quality during a peer review. In addition to being accredited and certified, the school is licensed by the Alabama Department of Education and approved by the Veterans Administration.
