Description
The Pro Bono Project has been providing family law services since its inception. We provide services in domestic violence, dissolution, separation, and parentage actions. The actions may involve custody, visitation, and child support. Services can include advice, referral to other resources, preparation of documents, help with filing, coaching on self representation, negotiation and settlement, limited scope representation, and full legal representation.
Cameron oversees the Virtual Legal Services Program, providing pro bono services to low income clients using virtual clinics. Cameron’ s legal experience includes private practice having handled cases ranging from real property litigation, contractual disputes, employment law, non-profit representation, trust and probate petitions and he has served as a prosecutor in Santa Clara County. Prior to practicing law, Cameron has worked for the U.S.
Steve directs the Project’s FLASH program, assisting pro se litigants in federal court. Steve practiced consumer law for 25 years in San Francisco, specializing in vehicle ‘lemon law,’ wrongful debt collection, wrongful credit reporting, and helped identity theft victims. Steve is admitted to practice before all California courts, the Northern District federal court, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, and the U.S. Supreme Court. Steve handled almost 50 appeals, of which 8 were published. He served as a pro tem judge with San Mateo County and was a judicial arbitration for over 10 years.
Prior to practicing law, he worked for the U.S. Congress as well as the Assembly of the State of California and he was a principal partner at a political consulting firm specializing in campaign compliance and reporting. Cameron graduated from Santa Clara University School of Law in 2009 and has extensive experience working as a Pro Bono attorney and an advocate for non-profits as a volunteer. He also is an experienced event planner and fundraiser. Cameron holds a B.A. degree in Classical Civilization from U.C.L.A. and an A.A. degree from De Anza College.
Based on the great response to the pilot clinics in Morgan Hill, Santa Clara County Library has agreed to operate four separate clinics Across the county. We are also working with the U.S Department of Veteran Affairs to provide a first-of-its-kind virtual clinic at a South Bay VA center specifically for veterans and their legal issues. This new virtual clinic will include an intake and general advice clinic as well as a clinic for limited scope representation, all performed virtually!
