It provides a standard in the head stage aperture and allows all alignment pins and docking jigs to be mounted to it. Because the docking hardware and insert ring are attached to the UTP rather than the prober station, the entire assembly—UTP, docking hardware, and insert ring—can be easily removed for installation on any other prober station.
