Professional Educators of Tennessee has been actively involved with the state legislature since its inception. We work year-round as a professional, positive voice focused on uniting educators in support of an exemplary public education for every Tennessee student. We provide ongoing political involvement training and a lobby day for members who choose to become actively involved in the political process. We give educators the information they need and the tools needed to stay informed.

Professional Educators of Tennessee has been serving great teachers across the state of Tennessee for over 20 years. Our relationships with other Tennessee education stakeholders have grown significantly over the past several years as we have all been viewed as agents of change at the forefront of education in the state. As one of the fastest growing teacher organizations in the state, we know that our relationships with these stakeholders will benefit our members as we move forward. We can all be catalysts for innovative solutions to the many challenges facing education.

Our primary mission is to create a quality educational experience in a safe environment for our students. Our top priority is the education and achievement of children in our state, as the organization is guided by the core principles which were established when Professional Educators of Tennessee was founded and these are still the foundation of the organization today.

Our members know that we will never use dues dollars to fund the advancement of any politician, political party or agenda. While we may inform our members of candidates' positions on educational issues, we do not tell our members how to vote or use our members' dues dollars to pay for political campaigns. We do not spend tens of thousands of dollars on organizations that push for the advancement of non-educational causes. However, we do routinely monitor and inform our members of education-related legislative issues, and alert them of any legislation that has a direct impact.
