Before 1996, PNC founder Jeff Gaura was a school teacher, tax preparer, soccer coach and Peace Corps Volunteer. Once he recognized that the world was “going technology faster than ever” he left his career as a teacher and took a job at a startup firm in Charlotte, literally for nothing. He agreed to work at a local firm until they thought he was worth a paycheck. At the end of the 2nd week of employment, the president of the firm approached him and notified him that he was on the payroll. Two years later, he started PNC, in the bonus room of his home, using capital from his first customer’s deposit to buy a computer, fax machine and a folding table to put these items on. Initially relying exclusively on word of mouth marketing, each year PNC has grown under his leadership. The firm currently employs 15 workers and has annual sales near $4M. Every quarter and every year that PNC has been in existence, it has been profitable. The sales team holds dear a fundamental value that truth cannot be compromised, especially over something like money. The engineering team holds to high standards of certification and specialization. Engineers represent the face of PNC to the customer community. Each engineer maintains their accreditations and sustain their theoretical knowledge of industry trends and changes in technology use. Our customers rely on PNC engineers to keep them up to date.
