Abortion is an issue that deeply divides our nation. Project REACH seeks to speak out on behalf of the most vulnerable members of our society, while looking for common ground with those with whom we disagree.Project REACH believes that if our fellow New Yorkers knew all the facts about abortion in this area, that they would be shocked and moved to action. If pregnant women in need knew all the help available to them, they would think twice about aborting. In light of this conviction, and with a desire to help and to heal, Project REACH offers hard data about the abortion crisis in the NYC area and information regarding life-affirming alternatives to abortion. We do this in the hope of opening a dialogue on the issues affecting the lives of women facing crisis pregnancies and the unborn children they carry.Project REACH serves as a regional support arm to NYC area pregnancy resource centers who assist pregnant women and their families in their time of greatest need, especially those who have few resources and are considering abortion. There are some 3,000 of these centers across the country, and less than two dozen in the New York area. Most operate on small budgets with volunteer staff as they help women gather the financial, medical and personal resources needed to make life-affirming choices.
