Description
John DeWitt is a co-founder of Protostar Engineering. He has worked at the NASA Johnson Space Center for over 6 years as a biomechanics and exercise science expert and has most recently served as the lead for the Exercise Physiology Laboratory. He is currently an Adjunct Professor in the University of Houston's Department of Health and Human Performance. He is also a Houston Dynamo Academy Staff Coach and has previously served as the Head Coach, University of New Mexico Women's Soccer Team. He has authored over 40 scientific papers and conference presentations and has published a book on coaching girls' soccer. Education: BS Electrical Engineering & BS Computer Science, University of Toledo; MS Exercise Science, Arizona State University; Ph.D. Biomedical Science, University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston.
Grant Schaffner is a co-founder of Protostar Engineering, Inc. He has over 10 years of experience as an engineer and scientist. His expertise includes aerospace engineering, medical engineering, biomechanics, and physiology. He is an Assistant Professor in the University of Cincinnati School of Aerospace Systems and holds membership in the MIT Enterprise Forum and the Gulf Coast Medical Device Manufacturers Association. He previously worked at the NASA Johnson Space Center for 6 years as a contract scientist and engineer, and at ATA Engineering, Space Industries International, Payload Systems, and MIT. He was a member of the Daedalus team that established the world records for human powered flight distance and duration in Greece in 1988. He is the recipient of the 2010 US Olympic Committee "Doc" Counsilman Science Award and several other NASA and Industry awards. Education: BS & MS in Aeronautics & Astronautics, MIT; PhD in Medical Engineering, Harvard Medical School - MIT Division of Health Sciences and Technology.
