Description

PPI is providing OEM services for client’s line of satellite telephones for commercial aircraft. The handset cradle is a sturdy plastic mount to hold the device when not in use. Rapid Prototyping has allowed PPI to fine tune the component’s design strategy for maximum effectiveness and spatial efficiency. Communications handsets are connected to the Irridium constellation of satellites to provide a reliable signal from any point on earth.

Our client required a field portable antenna array for advanced direction-finding and communication with unmanned aircraft. PPI designed and manufactured the support structure for this array. The system can be used as an alternative to GPS location. In order to meet performance requirements, the system employed 100% composite construction, using fiberglass tubes and channels, with a mix of bonded and bolted construction, utilizing fiberglass fasteners.

Our client had a requirement for a self-contained array of 4 dipole antennas, used for direction finding. PPI designed and manufactured the antennas, based on customer-supplied geometric criteria. The antennas incorporate multiple individual copper elements positioned within a nonconductive support structure, which utilized SLS technology for high prevision and rapid deployment.
