Description
The first step in our process with new customers is an evaluation of the material to be dried. If we don't have experience with your product, we will ask you to send a 3-ounce sample to our Payson, AZ plant for a benchtop analysis. There is no charge for this, and we'll get back to you with an analysis of the feasibility of pulse-drying your material. Ship all test materials to our Demonstration and Tolling Facility . (Note: The Bench Test consists of a simple "pan-drying" in our Sartorius Moisture Balance, and does not create any "powder" for your evaluation.
Our goal is to provide our customers a complete menu of spray drying products and services. Our patented spray drying technology makes a superior powder, and we seek customers with mid-to-high-value products who demand excellent powder quality and great service. We can also dry many products that cannot be dried in a conventional spray dryer or that deliver less than optimum results from freeze drying.
Our Pulse Combustion Spray Dryer ™ uses patented and proprietary technology to produce better powder than conventional spray driers or freeze drying systems. Our spray dryer delivers significant cost and performance improvements across the entire spectrum of feedstocks, including foods, chemicals, minerals, nutriceuticals and pharmaceuticals. If your product can be spray-dried, it can usually be pulse-dried to a better result. And, if it can't undergo spray drying, we may be able to pulse-dry it anyway.
The first step in any analysis of how your product will dry in a PCS Pulse Dryer would be to send us a sample of your product for pilot-scale testing. If your feed material has never been spray dried before, send us a pint of the material for a no-cost bench top evaluation. For a pilot-scale test using 10 to 20 gallons of your feed material, our test fee is typically $2,800 and includes a summary report of the test conditions.
Scale-Up Demo. If your production plan requires the removal of more than 1,000 pounds of water per day, we will propose a scale-up demonstration on our PCS Model P-1 production dryer (400 pounds per hour of water evaporation). This test will show us how your product handles in a production environment, and usually only requires two or three days. The cost is $7,500, with a two-day minimum.
