Recognizing the growing trend of environmentally conscious Americans, and the need for all industries to do their part to reduce the impact toxic elements have on our environment, Quality Control Services began to research a new Low-Toxic approach to pest management. In 1990 we began our own investigation of the products and applications being developed for use in commercial and residential settings. Slowly adapting many of the Low-Toxic approaches and identifying the most successful methods of providing Integrated Pest Management (IPM) services. There are many pest control companies, but unfortunately very few are utilizing these very effective procedures and means to controlling pest populations. IPM is the approach to pest control that utilizes regular monitoring to determine if and when treatments are needed, and implores physical, mechanical, cultural, biological, and educational tactics to keep pest populations low enough to prevent intolerable damage or annoyance. It has been said that the development of IPM is the single most important event in pest science during the last three decades. It has provided principles and guidelines for environmentally safe manipulation of pests, and has served as the framework for theory and application of all suppressive tactics for pests. The IPM concept, initially developed for agriculture, provides a process for identifying and reducing the factors causing pest problems. In connection with regular scheduled inspections and prevention methods, we also teach our customers how they too can help lower pest populations. In certain situations, the use of toxic pesticides may appear to be the only solution to a problem. In our experience this reasoning is only occasionally justified. More often, toxic pesticides are being used because people are not aware of reliable Low-Toxic alternatives. Worldwide concern over effect of conventional pesticides and increasing pest resistance to toxic materials due to over usage, have encouraged tremendous research in the field and the evolution of less toxic alternatives. Quality Control Services is committed to informing our customers of these alternatives. The list of pest control chemicals we use is limited, but the main two chemicals we use are natural pyrethrums, which are derived from botanicals (such as chrysanthemums) and other natural elements; and boron base baits (Boric Acids).
